NEW CARLISLE - Three games at Migley Field. Three walk-off home runs.
Two of those bombs came off the bat of JP Kehoe, who lifted Wiffle Dees to their first Hometown Cup on Sunday afternoon. Wiffle Dees defeated the defending champion Woo Crew, 5-4, in The Wiffle®Ball Championship Game.
For the Woo Crew, it was their third straight title game appearance. The 2024 champions reached the finals on their own walk-off home run by Rob Moore to knock out the Maple City Lime.
The dramatic Hometown Cup Finals were a fitting end to a wild and chaotic weekend of wiffleball in New Carlisle. Hometown Days welcomed a record 100 teams to Wiffletown USA, but Mother Nature treated them to downpours, thunderstorms, and oppressive heat and humidity throughout the three-day festival.
For his heroics, Kehoe was awarded the Kaylor Trophy.
Although it was the 21st annual Championship, the festivities celebrated the 20th anniversary of the founding of Hometown Days in 2005. The 22nd Championship is scheduled for July 25-26, 2026.
