Matt Soos Elected to Hall of Fame

Updated: Jul 25, 2022

NEW CARLISLE - The final piece of the Cult West core will take his spot in the New Carlisle Wiffle®Ball Hall of Fame this summer. Matt Soos has been elected as the sole member of the Class of 2022.

Soos will join his brother Scott, along with Jay Ryans and Danny Hernandez, as the fourth player inducted as a Warrior. The Cult West dynasty began with a 2012 World Series title in the Old Republic Wiffle®Ball League (ORWBL), followed by another league title in 2015 and most notably, four Hometown Cups in five years (2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017).

A clutch-hitting utility player, Soos has played every position on the field, proving himself to be a reliable outfielder and an effective pitcher. His adaptability at the plate has made him a valuable part of any lineup, as Soos excels at hitting in any wind conditions.

A four-time ORWBL All-Star, Soos has a .435 career batting average in league play at the time of his induction. He has also racked up 400 hits, 268 RBI, and 160 home runs.

In 2021, Soos was named All-Star Game MVP for his late game heroics, a staple of his 10-year career. His numerous postseason walk-off hits contributed to three World Series titles in six appearances.

Soos and Cult West continue to be a force in tournament play, most recently reaching the Hometown Cup Finals in 2020.

Soos was elected with 80-percent of the vote. Voters consist of the current living members of the Hall of Fame. Nominations are open throughout the year, and candidates must be named on 75% of the ballots to be inducted.
