Winds out of the south at Migley Field allowed for a return to the bracket format for the 2019 Home Run Derby, as 44 competitors swung for the fences on Friday night to open up Hometown Days weekend.

It was a sign of things to come for Sunday's Hometown Cup Finals, which turned into another home run derby.

For the third consecutive year, Maple City's Jared Jonkman slugged through a record turnout to capture the Golden Bat.

With his brother Caleb pitching to him, Jared knocked out notables such as ORWBL AL MVP Mark Richards, Team Combat's Evan Sibbet, and The Naturals captain Anthony DiNardo en route to the finals.

In the finals, Jonkman hit 11 home runs to defeat Granger's Daivyn Davis.

Jonkman is the second hitter to three-peat in the event, matching Nick Arndt who won three consecutive derbies from 2010-12.

2019 Derby Champion Jared Jonkman won his third Golden Bat in as many appearances, besting Daivyn Davis, 11-10, in the finals.
